What to check before switching

• Bristles are not bamboo. The handle is bamboo; the bristles on almost every bamboo toothbrush sold in India are nylon, including charcoal-infused ones. Snap the head off before composting the handle. Any brand claiming fully compostable bristles should say what they are made from.
• Replace on the same schedule. A bamboo brush still needs changing every three months, and frayed bristles clean less well regardless of handle material.
• Dry between uses. Bamboo and neem wood last far longer stood upright in a dry holder than left in a wet mug. This is the single biggest factor in how long they last.
• Neem wood combs do not build static the way plastic combs do. Wide-tooth for wet or curly hair, fine-tooth for detangling dry hair.
• Loofah here is plant-grown gourd, not plastic mesh. Rinse and hang after use, and replace every month or two.
• Coconut shell soap dishes need drainage — a raised or slatted base keeps the bar from going soft.
