Ingredients

  • 1 cup Organic Channa Dal (Buy Here)

  • 3/4 cup Organic Jaggery Powder (Buy Here)

  • 1 tbsp Chia Seeds (Buy Here)

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour

  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder

  • 1 tbsp Wood Pressed Virgin Coconut Oil (Buy Here)

  • Water (as needed)

  • A pinch of Salt

 


 

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large bowl, mix whole wheat flour, a pinch of salt, and coconut oil.

  2. Gradually add water and knead until a soft, pliable dough forms.

  3. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside for 30 minutes.

Step 2: Make the Filling
  1. Rinse and pressure cook channa dal with enough water until soft (about 3 whistles).

  2. Drain excess water and mash the dal into a smooth paste.

  3. In a pan, heat jaggery powder with a little water until it melts.

  4. Add the mashed channa dal, cardamom powder, and chia seeds.

  5. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens into a soft dough-like consistency.

  6. Let it cool before shaping into small balls.

Step 3: Assemble and Cook
  1. Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and roll into small discs.

  2. Place a filling ball in the center, fold the edges over, and roll out gently into a round shape.

  3. Heat a tawa (griddle) and cook the Puran Poli on both sides until golden brown, using a little coconut oil.
