Cannarma's range splits into two quite different groups, and it is worth knowing which you are buying. The first is hemp-based topicals and cosmetics: hemp seed oil, hemp hair oil, hemp aloe vera gel, kumkumadi face oil, rose water mist and massage oils. The second is classical Ayurvedic preparations — Trailokya Vijaya Vati, Manmath Ras, Laxmi Vilas Ras and Himalayan shilajit resin.

What to know before buying

• Classical Ayurvedic medicines are not supplements. Ras and vati preparations are formulated to classical texts and licensed under AYUSH, not sold as food. Several contain ingredients intended for use under the supervision of a registered Ayurvedic practitioner. Consult one before starting, and do not self-prescribe alongside existing medication.
• Hemp seed oil carries no cannabinoids in meaningful amounts. It is pressed from the seed and is a cosmetic and culinary oil. Leaf and full-spectrum extracts are a separate category with different regulation — the label will say which it is.
• Percentages, not adjectives. On a topical, look for the stated concentration of the active. "Hemp-infused" without a figure tells you nothing about the dose.
• Patch test all topicals on the inner forearm for 24 hours, especially face oils and anything with a high essential oil load.
• Shilajit should state its purification method and come with a heavy-metal test report; resin quality varies widely in the Indian market.
